Students and Business Community Join for IB Careers Conference

Nearly 200 students from across the region converged at UMSL on February 27, 2009, to attend the International Business Career Conference (IBCC). Students from 11 different regional colleges and universities were rewarded for attending by having the opportunity to interact, often one-on-one, with executives and representatives from St. Louis-based organizations that work in the international marketplace. Area organizations that participated in this event included: Anheuser Busch In-Bev, Novus International, The Boeing Company, Hackett Security, AAA Translations, Department of Commerce, Peace Corps, cottrade, Junior Chamber International, Hostelling International, International Business Exchange Program, and Siemens PLM Software, among others.

Colin Post writes of his AIE SEC internship experience in Peru
AIESEC has given me the wonderful opportunity to live and work in Arequipa, Peru. I secured a business development position with Laboratorios Portugal, a consumer products anufacturer founded in 1864. The company was looking for an American to identify and pursue opportunities in hopes of expanding into new markets. My job entails everything involved in transforming a Peruvian company's product line for the U.S. market.

Advisory Board Member Spotlight: Rodolfo Ri vera
Rodolfo Rivera has been named the newest member of the International Business Advisory Board in the College of Business Administration at the University of Missouri-St. Louis. Mr. Rivera is currently the Director of Latin American Operations for Fidelity National Title Group. His primary responsibility is the expansion of Fidelity National Title Group's presence in Latin America and the Caribbean.

Visiting Professor Conducts Research on Customer Satisfaction
Dr. Mueun Bae, former dean of the College of Business and Economics at Inha University in South Korea, is a visiting professor in the Marketing area for the Spring semester. Dr. Bae is conducting research on international comparisons of the determinants of customer satisfaction with high-tech software products such as game consoles and cellular phones.

UMSL students raise funds for children's charities

UMSL students raised over $1,500 for St. Louis area children's charities in the Old Newsboys Day campaign. This annual campaign raises funds for over 300 children's charities in the greater St. Louis area. Volunteers throughout the metropolitan area solicited donations in return for a special edition of the Suburban Journal. One hundred percent of the funds raised are donated to local children's charities.

International Business Career Conference to be held at UMSL
The IBHS, Epsilon Eta Pi (EEP), and AIESEC at UMSL proudly announce the 1st International Business Career Conference (IBCC) to be held February 27, 2009 from 8 am - 12 pm at the JC Penney Building on the UMSL campus. Students from around the region are invited to attend this unique conference where they will meet and interact with organization executives and other career professionals.

Students in Japan Enjoy Downtime
On finding out that four UMSL students were in Japan for the year studying at Rikkyo University and Tokyo Jogakkan College and had an interest in getting out to explore the countryside, Furuya invited them up to his mountain villa in the Central Alps of Japan.

Advisory Board Member Spotlight: Craig S. Ingraham
Craig S. Ingraham has been named the newest member of the International Business Advisory Board in the College of Business Administration at the University of Missouri-St. Louis. Ingraham is a general corporate and transactional attorney at Novus International, Inc.
