Elizabeth Vining Recieves Governor's Award for Teaching Excellence

The International Business Institute is very proud to announce that Prof. Elisabeth Vining is the recipient of the 2006 Governor's Award for Teaching Excellence. 

Our Undergraduate IB Program ranks 8th in the Nation
U.S. News and World Report, the leading organization ranking business school programs, has ranked the University of Missouri-St. Louis undergraduate international business program as 8th in the United States (tied with Georgetown University). 

IBI Open House
To celebrate the IB program's 8th national ranking and the office's recent makeover, the International Business Institute hosted an Open House for all UMSL students and faculty on November 14, 2006.

UMSL host CUIBE Award Breakfast
The University of Missouri-St. Louis, as a member of the Consortium for Undergraduate International Business Education (CUIBE), hosted the first awards event for CUIBE November 4 th. The award, for outstanding achievement in support of international business education, was presented to Mr. Stephen J. Burrows, CEO and President of Anheuser-Busch International, Inc. 

Faculty Exchange with Finland
This past May, Betty Vining, IBI Fellow and 2006 recipient of the Governor's Award for Excellence in Teaching, spent three weeks lecturing in Finland at Seinajoki University of Applied Sciences as part of our faculty exchange program. 

IMBA Off to a Great Success
The new International MBA program got off to a great start in August. A two-year program in which students study one year abroad, one year at UMSL, and complete an international internship, the IMBA has received much attention and a lot of interest. Students from the St. Louis area headed out to Strasbourg, France and Nanjing, China for their year of overseas study and international internship. 

UMSL Hires Four New International Business Professors
The University of Missouri-St. Louis has hired four new international business professors. One of them, Gaiyan Zhang, has already joined us. The other three, Gerald Yong Gao, Ekin K. Pellegrini, and Bindu Arya, will join us this Summer or Fall. 

International Business Consortium Holds First Meeting
Last year, the University of Missouri-St. Louis instigated the creation of an International Business Consortium among some of the nation's leading universities in this field. This group met for the first time on the University of Missouri-St. Louis' campus March 6-8.
